Mipham Rinpoche's Wheel of Analysis and Meditation
Fri 8th - Sun 10th September 2017 at Danakosha Ling, Forssantie 37, Jokioinen, Finland
The subject of the weekend teaching is Wheel of Analysis and Meditation, a text written by the great master Jamgön Mipham Rinpoche. This teaching is an instruction to meditation very suitable for beginners. Tulku Dakpa Rinpoche will kindly explain Mipham Rinpoche's text.

It is said in the text:

Whatever problems there are in the world
Are created by the afflictions in our own minds.
A mistaken attitude is a cause for the kleshas,
Yet the pattern of our thoughts can be refined.

We don't know how problems come from our own mind, and how to keep our mind at peace. Therefore Jamgön Mipham Rinpoche gave an explanation on how to do that through meditation, as well as how to measure the progress at meditation and the significance of the practice. This is the essence of the teaching.

This is one of the most important teachings for creating positive actions and for attaining Enlightenment. It is also the essence of all of the Buddha's teachings. Jamgön Mipham Rinpoche says in the text:

To recite the Four Seals of the Mahayana Dharma
Is equivalent to understanding the teachings
In the eighty-four thousand sections of the Dharma.
If you meditate well on the points explained here,
Since they bring together the key points of many thousands of sutras,
You will easily gain the treasure of knowing perfectly the profound and vast,
And liberation will swiftly follow in its wake.

Review of the Passed Year

The passed year has included a wealth of excellent dharma program at Danakosha.

In February the Danakosha sangha gathered to celebrate Tibetan New Year Losar by spending a moment in prayer followed by a dinner along with representatives from different Tibetan Buddhist groups.

The renovations of Danakosha Ling in Jokioinen were continued by many volunteer workers. In May-June a special Karma Yoga program, a month of concentrated work, was organized. Lots of volunteers from Finland and other countries, both old sangha members and new friends, participated in the renovations, gardening etc., and significant progress was made. We are truly grateful to everyone who offered their help. Nevertheless, a lot of renovations remain to be done, and the work continues on the dormitory and other spaces.

In June Tulku Dakpa Rinpoche kindly gave a teaching on the 37 Practices of the Bodhisattvas in connection with the Saga Dawa festival. This was the first dharma teaching given at Danakosha Ling center. Tulku Dakpa Rinpoche emphasized that the subject of Bodhisattvas' 37 practices was chosen to underline the purpose and direction of the center to act for the benefit of all sentient beings.

The five-year course on Semnyid Ngalso, or Relaxing in the Nature of Mind, continued on its second year with a two week course in July, taught generously by Tulku Dakpa Rinpoche. This year's teaching covered how to follow a spiritual master, going for refuge, and aspirational bodhichitta. Almost fourty fortunate students from different countries gathered to receive the deep and profound teachings.

Throughout the year Tulku Dakpa Rinpoche gave precious dharma teachings also in Slovakia, Poland, Denmark, Sweden and Taiwan.

News from Danakosha Trust

As the autumn begins, we are starting a new sponsoring project and continuing our day-to- day work. Here is a brief overview of our latest news. Please check www.danakoshatrust.org or our Facebook page for more information about our activities.

Fundraising

Danakosha Trust has sent a clothing donation to a lay school in Dzachukha, Tibet, that has been our aid recipient since a few years. The tribes of Dzachukha are nomadic herders. Environmental conditions are hard but nomads are self-sustaining and have been able to preserve their cultural continuity. Lately the modern influences have made way to this region and are threatening the traditional way of life.

Since the nomads are living in different locations according to the seasonal changes, most of them do not read, and speak only their native dialect. The educational opportunities are limited and thereby we are very pleased to be able to help the girls and boys studying in this lay school. Danakosha Trust sponsored the annual clothing for the children. These photos were taken on the day the children received the clothes and both teachers and children were very happy about the donation.

New "Sponsor a Child" program

We have launched a new sponsoring program with Ngodup Choeling School of Pangan Gonpa in Kullu-Manali, Himachal Pradesh, India, after the teachers and staff requested us to find sponsors for their students. Ngodup Choeling is a monastic school where the children learn Buddhist philosophy and other subjects. The school's main goal is to help the children and the society in the future. The children come from poor families, and as a monastic school, the school will provide food, clothing, education and residence. The age of the students varies from 5 years to teenagers. The school building was finished in spring 2017 and the construction works had received financial support from notable Buddhist sources such as His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama. The inauguration of the school was held on June 4th and the school classes started at the beginning of August. Although the building is finished, Ngodup Choeling School is looking for sponsors that will enable the children's studies and continuation of the study program by covering general expenses. In total, there will be more than 30 students studying at the schooling program.

If you would like to receive more information or consider the possibility to sponsor a child please contact us. We will also update more news shortly.
